Sally crossed out another day on her calendar. She took a step back and admired the tidy pattern of red X's snaking through January. She breathed a sigh of satisfaction.
She filled her shapely chest with a deep breath, feeling the chilly morning fill her lungs. Her throat murmured as the wind passed through, that husky side-effect was going to take some time to go away. As for now, 25 days without a cigarette was enough to make her feel like a new person. She brushed her long, shimmering auburn hair in the mirror and felt proud of her progress so far.
